As the calendar officially turns to June, we are just a few weeks away until the 2018 NBA Draft. It’s a very important draft for the Chicago Bulls, despite not being able to get into the Top 3 and actually falling one spot to No. 7 during the NBA Draft Lottery.
This year’s draft is loaded with talent and despite not picking in the Top 3, the Bulls should still find a very talented player to help with the rebuild. That guy could somehow be former Texas center Mohamed Bamba who is already on the Bulls radar.
Bamba was at the Advocate Center on Friday working out for the Bulls with John Paxson and Gar Forman in attendance. Chicago Tribune reporter Malika Andrews snapped a pic of Bamba during his workout:

Adding the seven-footer to their roster would be big for the Bulls. It would give them a true center to pair with the young core of Lauri Markkanen, Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn. Bamba was a standout at Texas for his one season with the Longhorns and was one of the top recruits in the 2017 recruiting class.
Here are some of Bamba’s strengths according to his profile on NBADraft.net:
A truly elite physical specimen in terms of length, Mohamed Bamba jumps off the page with his 7’9” wingspan and 9’6” standing reach … This kind of size allowed him to immediately burst on to the NCAA scene as an elite rim protector with the measurables to translate this skill to the NBA … Blocking 3.7 shots per game during his regular season stint at Texas doesn’t even take into account the countless shots he altered or drive attempts he thwarted
The only problem is that Bamba is projected to be almost certainly a Top 5 pick and could find himself in the Top 3. The Boston Celtics recently showed some interest in trading up to land Bamba according to a report.
It’s hard imagining Bamba falling to the Bulls all the way at No. 7 but if they could somehow trade up into the Top 3, they could get their guy. Whatever happens, it’s going to be a very important draft for the Bulls organization and they have to hit on this pick
