The IceHogs returned home this past Tuesday after playing 4 games on the road. This time they were hosting the Manitoba Moose. The Moose took the lead in the 1st frame with 2 goals that went unanswered by the Hogs. In the 2nd frame, the Moose tallied their 3rd goal and chased Rockford’s netminder, Lars Johansson, from the game. He was replaced by Jeff Glass. The IceHogs rallied back with goals by Spencer Abbott and Ville Pokka before the period ended. Rockford’s Eric Gustafsson tied the score 3-1 in the 3rd period, but the Moose answered back with a goal and an empty-netter, making the final score 5-3.
Big News…the Chicago Blackhawks announced during the game, a trade deal they made with the Dallas Stars. They traded Mark McNeill(F), in a package deal, for Johnny Oduya(D). Then the Blackhawks announced yesterday, they have traded Spencer Abbott(F) & Sam Carrick(F) for Kenton Helgesen(F) & a 2019 draft pick from the Anaheim Ducks. The trades directly effect the IceHogs’ roster. The IceHogs have now recalled Tyler Barnes(F) from the Indy Fuel.
There are now 8 home games left in the regular season’s schedule. The IceHogs remain in 7th place in the AHL’s Central Division. Next home games are this weekend Friday March 3rd & 4th.
