Today the proposal for more night games at Wrigley Field passed at City Council with no debate. The proposal is just first step for Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts to gain revenue for his newly constructed Wrigley Field renovation plan.
The approval will give the Cubs 46 night games per season, give the Cubs six Friday afternoon games with 3:05 starts and allow four concerts at Wrigley Field.
Many Chicago Lake View residents aren’t happy with the approval of the proposal by the Cubs. According some residents from a Sun-Times article, 56 night events are too much for the neighborhood.
This is just the latest debate between the Cubs and residents as plans for a renovation at Wrigley Field have caused a big stir over the past few months.
The Cubs are still hopeful they can start their renovation plans at seasons end.
