One of the state’s top basketball players for the 2020 recruiting class will be staying close to home this year.
Morgan Park guard Adam Miller offered his verbal commitment to the University of Illinois on Thursday night, choosing to stay in the state with the Fighting Illini rather than leave for another school. Miller’ picked the Illini over Arizona, Michigan and Louisville. He made the decision with a special ceremony at the Jordan Brand store located on State Street in Chicago.

The commitment is a big one for Brad Underwood and his 2020 class. Not only was he able to land the No. 32 overall player in the 2020 class but he also snagged a big in-state recruit. The 6-foot-3 Miller is one of the top scorers in this class and will give the Illini a nice scoring threat for the next few years.
Although Miller is verbally committed to Illinois, he is not signed yet. Derek Piper of Illini Inquirer on 247 Sports tweeted out that Miller is verbally committed but is still “evaluating all options.” He also added that Miller did meet with Michigan head coach Juwan Howard just a few days ago.
The addition of Miller gives Underwood the 11th-ranked class in 2020 as it stands now.
