Fans got a first look at the Bulls revamped roster tonight in the teams first preseason game at the United Center as they hosted the Memphis Grizzlies.
It’s only preseason, but we get a small look at what to expect this season from a Bulls team that will have a different look to it.
The Bulls pulled out a 92-88 win, the box score can be found here.
Here’s some quick game notes:
–Nick Friedell tells us something new about the Bulls starting lineup. Did you notice it?
-New Bull Nate Robinson sported the Playoff XIII’s in the house that MJ built. Nice style Nate.
-First two off the bench were Taj Gibson and Marco Belinelli. Thibs hopes Belinelli can provide and offensive spark for the Bulls off the bench. Taj had a solid performance tonight. He continues to get better.
-Luol Deng led all scorers with 18. He needs to big HUGE for the Bulls during the regular season.
-Some Derrick Rose news: According to SoleCollector, only 2 NBA players are allowed to wear signature Rose shoes.
-Rookie Marquis Teague got some early action as he made his debut in the second quarter. He finished with 0 points, 1 steal and 2 turnovers. It’s only the preseason folks.
-Surprised that Nazr Mohammed started 6/6 from the field with 13 points going into the fourth?
-Could you tell it was preseason? Both teams combined for 52 fouls and 41 turnovers.
-The Bulls had 28 fast break points midway through the third, KC Johnson tells us…
-Jimmy Butler who is likely to have a much bigger role this season finished with two points. He’s looking to fill the role Ronnie Brewer had off the bench. He struggled during the game, must correct things before the season starts.
-The Bulls looked good in transition. Something to keep an eye on, especially with Rose out.

It was good to see Deng in action. With only 20 some minutes played and 18 points (granted it’s preseason and defense was a bit lax) I was happy with what I saw.
On of the things I think thats going under-rated is the fact that Jimmy Butler, though he had a pretty poor outing (he couldn’t buy a basket last night!), he looks very confident. Which is what we are going to need from him to replace Brewers intensity. As we all know the stat sheets don’t show the defensive hustle he put out, but I liked what I saw.
Super stoked for this season!
