Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine may be the offense reinforcement that the Los Angeles Lakers need to improve their chances of being a real championship contender this season—that is if recent trade rumors are to be believed.
In a report by Fadeaway World, Zach LaVine was part of a list of plates that the Lakers could acquire to help boost their offensive power. Landin LaVine and adding him to their roster would bring in the power they have been reportedly looking for this trade season. However, the Bulls guard comes with a steep price, and with the reported limitations the LA team imposed on itself, affording someone on the price tier of LaVine may prove to be challenging.
A separate report coming from The Chicago Sun-Times suggested that the Lakers may have a strong interest in LaVine for quite some time now but at the same time, they seem to be adamant about not parting ways with Austin Reaves
The report said: “There have been whispers about the Lakers for over a year now, but a source said that the pieces that would have to be swapped don’t fit, and Los Angeles remains steadfast that Austin Reaves isn’t going to be included.”
On the other hand, there might be a way to land LaVine and still keep Reaves—but it still comes with trading a few decent names from their roster.
The Fadeaway World report suggested: “To land LaVine without including Austin Reaves, the Lakers would need to send D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, and a future second-round pick. While the price might seem steep, LaVine’s scoring and shot creation would be a significant upgrade for the Lakers, making them a more formidable force in the West.”
Considering LaVine is only 29 years old, he could be the player to bridge the outgoing generation of LeBron James.
Zach LaVine Denver Nuggets Trade Halts Progress
Another team that Zach LaVine has been rumored to be a potential trade for is the Denver Nuggets. If he moves to the Colorado team, LaVine would help ease the burden on Nuggets star player Nikola Jokic and help make up for the inconsistencies of Jamal Murray this season. However, any early talks about a potential trade may remain as that for now.
The Sun-Times report said: ‘The Nuggets rumor did have ‘light momentum’ as of last week, but that’s as far as it has gotten. Both teams have sent out feelers in early talks of what a deal would look like, but it hasn’t progressed.”
So far this season, Zach LaVine averages 22.3 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.
