Just a week after winning the Missouri Valley Conference and punching their ticket to the big dance, the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers now know where they will play in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
The NCAA’s Selection Committee officially announced the 68-team field on Sunday’s special show on CBS and the Ramblers have earned a No. 11 seed in the South Region. They will open up their 2018 Tournament against No. 6 Miami of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
This is the first time in 33 years that the Ramblers have reached the NCAA Tournament, making it to the Sweet 16 in 1985. The Ramblers won the National Championship in 1963 with an historic team that is still remembered around Chicago.
If they want to make a run and be this year’s Cinderella, they will have to go through a tough South Region that features No. 1 Virginia, No. 2 Cincinnati, No. 3 Tennessee and No 4 Arizona as the top seeds.
Loyola will open up play on Thursday or Friday and if they win, will play the second round over the weekend.
