Former 4-star Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin offensive lineman Ryan Klachko has transferred to Illinois from Nebraska.
The 6’4″ 290 pound Klachko makes the third transfer this offseason for Illinois, joining OL Ryan Nowicki from Penn State, and DB Tommy Davis from Northern Illinois. Klachko is currently a redshirt freshman and will have three years of eligibility after sitting out this season due to transfer rules.
Coming out of high school, Klachko was rated a 4-star guard and one of the top 250 players in the nation. He was also rated as the #12 guard and 7th best player in the state of Illinois.
Head coach Tim Beckman was quoted on fightingillini.com as saying, “Ryan was one of the top players in the state coming out of high school. We’re happy to welcome Ryan back to Illinois, where he’ll be closer to his family and friends. After practicing with us this season, I look forward to him competing for playing time and providing depth on the offensive line starting in 2013.
