With the Bears preseason starting this coming Friday and the regular season beginning in 5 weeks, one of the most intriguing divisions this coming season is the NFC North. The typical predictions each season usually have the Packers winning the division and as long as Rodgers is their quarterback, they will always be in the playoff hunt. I expect Green Bay to head into the playoffs this season, but not as the NFC North champs. For years Bears fans accepted the fact that the team won’t change. Chicago is all defense with little offense but everyone, including Phil Emery, knew that had to change if they wanted to compete with their northern rivals.
For so many years the Bears dealt with Brett Favre and his offenses and it didn’t get any easier when the torch was passed on to Rodgers. This year is a little different. The Bears finally have the offense they need to match their rival. The real question is, can Cutler use his weapons to conquer his toughest opponents? While that remains to be seen, I believe that answer is yes. This Bears offense put up the 2nd most points last season under a new head coach behind only Peyton Manning’s Broncos. It’s exciting to think what this offense can do in year 2 under Trestman if everyone stays healthy. Although, another big question is how the defense will look this year after a dreadful 2013 season.
NFC North Predicted Standings
1. Chicago Bears (11-5)
2. Green Bay Packers (10-6)
3. Detroit Lions (8-8)
4. Minnesota Vikings (6-10)
