1. The Chicago Bears will not re-sign Jaylon Johnson
Johnson has been the Bears’ best cornerback for the past few seasons. That could change if Tyrique Stevenson is as good as some Bears pundits think he is.
Johnson wants a new contract and likely wants CB1 money. The problem: he’s not a CB1. Pro Football Focus doesn’t rank Johnson among the top 32 cornerbacks in the league. I think Poles treats Johnson the same as Roquan Smith and Montgomery by giving him a fair offer instead of overpaying for homegrown talent that he didn’t draft.
