The Brian Urlacher era is over. The Lovie Smith era is over. Now it’s the Marc Trestman era in Chicago and the Bears are ready to make a run at a division title and even the Super Bowl.
It won’t be easy for the Bears however in a pretty stacked NFC conference that features the Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and other competitive teams fighting for a playoff spot.
Currently NFL game picks at SportBet.com have Da Bears at +1400 to win the NFC. Good odds if the Bears can pull it off. Sportsbet.com has odds for all NFL teams all season long.
If the Bears want to make a deep playoff run, it will all start with the play of Jay Cutler. The quarterback is in his final year of his contract with the Bears and will be looking for a big payday at the end of the season if he can deliver for the Bears. Much like Joe Flacco did last season with the Baltimore Ravens.
Cutler and the Bears offense has the weapons to be a high powered offense which is a good sign for the Bears. Wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery look to be the top targets for Cutler and add in the big physical tight end Martellus Bennett who instantly is an upgrade at the position for the Bears.
It doesn’t end there however. Matt Forte has proven to be a solid running back in years past and looks to put up solid numbers out of the backfield.
While the defense loses Brian Urlacher, new play caller Lance Briggs will look to lead the defense to glory. This Bears defense features a ton of playmakers but remains a question mark heading into the season.
Can Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings repeat their Pro Bowl seasons from last year? Will we see the dominant Julius Peppers of years past? Will rookie Jon Bostic step up and help fill the middle linebacker role?
It’s going to be an interesting season in 2013.
