I was debating whether or not to include this week’s Thursday Night Football game in my picks for this week because both teams are very ‘hit or miss.’ I took a chance on Baltimore and sure enough, they underperformed. Besides, who’s a Ravens or Bengals fan anyway?
Nevertheless, this week should be exciting and have a lot of offense. Let’s get right into it.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Best Bet: Philadelphia (-3.5)
The Eagles are coming off an unimpressive Thursday Night victory over the Falcons but I think that the Eagles are a much better team than what they showed, good enough to beat the Bucs. The Bucs are coming off of an impressive away victory in New Orleans where the term “Fitzmagic” was born after throwing for 4 touchdowns and more than 400 yards. However, the Eagles defense is better than the Saints’ and I think Jay Ajayi is going to have an absolute field day at Raymond James this Sunday.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Buffalo Bills
Best Bet: Chargers (-7)
This one is kind of a no-brainer. Both teams are 0-1 but the Chargers actually scored more than 3 points in their last game. Bottom line, the Bills don’t have what it takes to be great and the Chargers do.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Detroit Lions
Best Bet: 49ers (-6)
Detroit has to fly all the way across the country and play Jimmy Garoppolo at home, enough said. I think very highly of Jimmy Garoppolo and I think his potential is sky high and he is about to prove it this Sunday when he wins by more than 6 points.
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys
Best Bet: Giants (+3)
This game is super tough to predict because both teams are unreliable in terms of performance. Personally, I think Saquon Barkley is a bigger, faster, stronger, better Ezekiel Elliot. Dallas at home is always better than Dallas on the road but I am predicting a Saquon Barkley rushing party that will solidify him as an elite back in the NFL and expose the Cowboys defense.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Best Bet: Over 53.5
The Chiefs are going to be very surprised and excited to have Patrick Mahomes under center for them this season with his flawless debut game last week. I think that his game wasn’t a fluke and that he’s a QB that needs to be taken seriously. Both teams are capable of putting up huge numbers which is why I think the best move for this game is taking the over.
Lock of the Week
Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans
Best Bet: Houston (-3)/ Under 43
This has big money written all over it. I like both of these picks because the Titans aren’t capable of putting up huge numbers and the Texans are. Also, Mariota is questionable for the game which means the Titans will have an even weaker offense. The Texans also made it close last week against the Pats only losing by 7. I think Deshaun Watson will lead this offense to at least a 3 point victory and the Texans defense will lock it down and prevent the Titans from scoring more than 17 points.
