Game 2 is tonight, and it’s a big one to say the least. After losing game 1 and there home ice advantage the Hawks will look to even up the series tonight. Coach Q still has hope in his young goalie as yesterday in his press conference he said, ” Antii Niemi is playing, no doubt”. Niemi was pulled at the start of the 3rd period onSaturday after giving up 5 goals to the Canucks in 2 periods.
Coach Q also added, “(Niemi) played very well for us down the stretch,” Quenneville said. “We liked the way he played consecutive games. He went on a nice roll there, played a very good series against Nashville and was fine (Saturday night). I think it was easy to make a change going into the third period to get him rested and excited.”
We all know a think that can kill any players momentum or confidence is getting benched for a game. Expect Niemi to come out focused and poised, as he always is, for Game 2 tonight.
Q wouldn’t comment on any line up changes saying, “”We’ll talk about it,”I know that we’re still visiting with that. But we don’t want to make too many changes. The adjustments will be on the ice because we know we can be better.” A move with Big Buff is possible but he is expected to stay up front.
Game 3 is tonight at 7:30 at the United Center
