As we hit the long Summer months of July and August, the National League Central race is close at the top between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers.
Just a half game separates the two teams as we stand on July 2nd, with Milwaukee leading the way. Both teams have been in the race all year long and it figures to be a tight one as he enter the Summer months. With just a few weeks left until the MLB Trade Deadline, the rumors are swirling and it appears as if Milwaukee is ready to make a push and get into the playoffs.
The latest rumor surrounding the Brewers involves New York Mets starter Noah Syndergaard.
John Harper of the New York Daily News wrote on Syndergaard and the possibility of the Brewers putting together a package to land the starter. The move would certainly boost the Brewers rotation and provide a bigger challenge for the Cubs.
Sources say the Brewers, sensing a chance to make a big splash in October, are very interested in dealing for Syndergaard.
Adding Syndergaard to the rotation would be a big move in the NL Central but it would also likely cost the Brewers some top prospects. Players like Keston Hiura, Corbin Burnes, and Corey Ray were all mentioned by Harper in his report.
The other name that is being connected to the Brewers is Toronto starter J.A. Happ. The Blue Jays will likely deal Happ as the AL East Race is between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.
According to a source, the Blue Jays have been extensively scouting the Brewers' system. J.A. Happ could be on Milwaukee's radar, as the Brewers need a starter and the lefty is one of the top arms expected to be traded this month.

The Cubs have been playing well of late, winning four-straight games including a sweep of the Minnesota Twins over the weekend. Chicago also has had the upper hand in head-to-head meetings between the two ball clubs.
With a race that is likely going to come down to the final weeks, Syndergaard is a player that could have a big impact on this race. It would be very interesting to see Chicago’s offense against a pitcher like Syndergaard in one of the six games between the two teams in September.
The other factor is, that if the Brewers do add a pitcher will the Cubs counter with a move of their own?
