The Northwestern Wildcats took two heavy blows Wednesday as senior running back Venric Mark will transfer from the school as well as a very devastating injury to the team’s leading receiver last season, Christian Jones.
The 6-3 wide receiver will miss the entire season due to a knee injury sustained in the team practice, Northwestern announced on Wednesday.
Jones led the Wildcats with 54 receptions for a team high 668 yards and four touchdowns last season. He was surely expected to come in to the 2014-15 season as quarterback Trevor Siemian’s number one option along with fellow wideout Tony Jones.
Northwestern has many wide receivers that can step in to try and fill in the hole that Jones will leave this season, as senior Kyle Prater likely being that player. Superback Dan Vitale may be seeing way more passes thrown his way this season as well as the Wildcats look for threats on the receiving end.
According to Northwestern’s campus news ‘The Daily Northwestern‘, Jones is eligible for a redshirt fifth year season in 2015.
