If being the son of Joe Montana didn’t bring enough attention to yourself, slap on a underage drinking ticket too. Nate Montana, a Quarterback on the Notre Dame roster was 1 of 8 Irish athletes arrested Friday night on misdemeanor underage drinking charges. Are we surprised at a college student being slapped on the wrist for drinking under the age of 21? Not at all. Are we surprised Joe Montana’s son was involved…well of course we are!
According to WNDU-TV in South Bend, eight members of the Notre Dame football program were among the 43 people arrested Friday night for underage drinking at what sounds like one hellacious party.
Nate Montana, 20-year-old son of Joe Montana and the backup to Dayne Crist at quarterback, was one of the eight-man Irish drinking team busted by the Indiana State Excise Police at a South Bend home.
The others arrested according to the television station were Lorenzo Wood, a cornerback and 2010 recruit; Chris Watt, a sophomore offensive guard; Robert Toma, a 2010 wide receiver recruit; Nicholas Tausch, a sophomore kicker; Ta-iler Jones (no relation), a 2010 wide receiver recruit; Steven Filer, a junior outside linebacker; and Tate Nichols, a 2010 recruit.
All eight were held overnight at the county jail until their blood alcohol level had dipped below legal levels, the station reported.
