Good news from the White Sox today, who have put a quick end to the Ozzie Guillen speculation. After meeting separately with owner Jerry Reinsdorf and general manager Kenny Williams today, Ozzie decided that he will come back to the South Side next season.
After huddling with chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and general manager Ken Williams in separate meetings, Ozzie Guillen said Monday he will honor his contract with the White Sox.
Guillen said he never sought an extensions and was satisfied with assurances that he’s wanted in Chicago.
Guillen vowed that his coaches will stay with him. Guillen wanted an answer from management on his future for family and business reasons.
Guillen said he could work well in the future with Williams after a tense nine months.
I have my doubts that Ozzie and Kenny will play nice forever, but it appears that Guillen knows he lost the power struggle, and will fall in line for now. Hopefully this also means the White Sox will get a real DH next season, which might be the most glaring need heading into this offseason.
