According to a Mark Gonzales tweet Jake Peavy will start the series finale against the Twins and Zach Stewart will start Saturday against the Twins. To make room for Stewart, Brian Bruney has been designated for assignment.
Stewart, 24, was acquired in a deal that sent Mark Teahen and Edwin Jackson to the Blue Jays in exchange for Jason Frasor. He has made 1 start for AAA Charlotte going 6 innings surrendering 3 runs. This year for the Blue Jays Stewart started in AA going 5-5 with a 4.20 ERA over 16 starts. Stewart features a low 90’s fastball and a mid 80’s slider.
Brian Bruney, 29, has had a rough go of it lately, over his last 10 apperances he has gone 8.1 innings earning a 11.88 ERA and watched his season ERA swell from 2.92 to 6.86
