The Chicago Cubs are already going to be without closer Brandon Morrow for the season opener on March 28th as he’s expected to miss at least the first month of the 2019 season. But they could now be without another key reliever for some time.
Joe Maddon revealed that reliever Pedro Strop had an MRI and suffered a mild right hamstring injury.
It doesn’t appear the Cubs are too overly concerned with the injury but anytime something like this pops up, you want to be cautious.
The Cubs really don’t have any margin for error in their bullpen, an area that they struggled in last season. Strop returns as one of their top relievers but he did also have a hamstring injury at the end of last season.
This is something to monitor as we approach first pitch of the 2019 season.
