We may have one for the Down Bad Hall of Fame following Tom Brady’s announcement that he is returning for a 23rd season in 2022 following a two-month retirement. Just last night, what was thought to be Tom Brady’s last touchdown ball sold for $518,628 at Lelands Auctions.

Yes, that’s right. Less than 24 hours after someone invested over half-a-million dollars in what everyone thought was Brady’s last NFL touchdown has potentially set a record for the fastest depreciation in any sports memorabilia item ever. With returning to Tampa Bay, Brady may want to be a little leery in giving Mike Evans any more targets that could result in historic touchdown passes. Evans launched this ball into the stands after scoring the touchdown in their attempt to close the gap over Los Angeles.
You may also remember Evans was also the receiver who handed Tom Brady’s 600th touchdown pass ball off to a fan, resulting in that fan receiving two signed jerseys and a helmet from Brady, a signed Evans jersey and his game cleats, a $1,000 credit at the Buccaneers’ team store, and two season passes for the remainder of this season as well as next season.
Mike Evans giving away Tom Brady's 600th TD pass is really something else; of course, the Bucs staff got that ball back for him. pic.twitter.com/Ft977N2KuZ

Nevertheless, things have once again gotten interesting in the NFC with Brady returning for another season. In what has been looking like a two team race between the Rams and the Packers for the early odds favorite to come away conference champions, you can now add the Bucs to the race. As we’ve always learned, never count out the GOAT.
As for the person who just purchased the not-his-last-touchdown-anymore football? We’ll just call him the GOAT at poor timed auction wins.
