Baseball’s best team, Philadelphia Phillies, just got better. Phillies completed a deal with the Houston Astros, which will send All Star Hunter Pence to the Phillies for four prospects.
Although there had been talk earlier that the teams could expand the trade to include a third club, multiple sources said that by late Friday, only two-team scenarios were on the table.
Astros will receiver Jarred Cosart, who is the Phillies top pitching prospect and Jonathan Singleton, who is the Phillies top hitting prospect.
The Phillies’ package does not include either outfielder Domonic Brown or rookie starter VanceWorley, sources said.
Pence will fit in well with a lineup that already consist of Rollins, Victorino, Howard and Utley. The Phillies have been lacking a consistent hitting outfielder since Jason Werth signed with the Nationals in the offseason.
