The White Sox offense loudly proclaimed that they are ready for the 2011 season with a 15-10 beating of the Division rival Cleveland Indians. The Sox would score 2 in the first 4 in the 3rd and 8 in the fourth. Adam Dunn would hit his first Homer as a member of the South Siders also Carlos Quentin would hit his first bomb continuing the pace he started during Cactus League play. Quentin would also lead the way with 5 RBIs. Rookie 3rd baseman Brent Morel had a very solid showing going 2/5 with 2 RBIs.
The Sox would need that outburst though, as the bullpen was barely able to hold the lead. Starter Mark Buehrle pitched well going 6 innings surrendering 4 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk and striking out a very Buehrle-esque zero Indians. After that, the ‘pen was very shaky, Ohman started off the season with a 40.50 ERA by surrendering 3 runs in .2 innings, I know its early but … C’mon, Tony Pena didn’t fare much better going 1 IP and surrendering 2 runs. Chris Sale gave up 2 hits but no runs in his .1 IP and Jesse Crain surrendered only 1 run in 1 IP.
All in all the Sox got the season started off right, with a WIN!!!

“…the bullpen unable to hold the lead.” Oif. They sure made it interesting but never relinquished the lead.
Yes, you are correct, thank you for pointing that out
