In a series that looked as if the Sox were destined for a sweep the Sox lose 2 of 3.
Game One; A’s 2 – Sox 1
Mark Buehrle flirted with another no-no for 5 innings and pitched very well, but the Sox ‘pen was unable to hold the lead … once again. Buehrle went 8 innings walking one and 2 hits but the ‘pen faltered and Matt Thornton blew his 3rd save of the year after Juan Pierre’s second error of the year. And the Loss was tagged to Jesse Crain after he surrendered go-ahead homer to Kurt Suzuki. The hitting was also baffled by LHP Dallas Braden as Konerko was the only Sox to get 2 hits and the only run was a solo shot from middle earth.
Game Two; Sox 6 A’s 5
Edwin Jackson wasn’t the same guy who pitched at the home opener but he kept the Sox in the game after a 4 run explosion in the 2nd inning, the bullpen blew that lead too, Will Ohman actually had an appearance without a run, 1 batter but, we’ll take what we can get. Tony Pena gave up 2 runs in his inning. Santos and Sale pitched well going a combined 4 innings surrendering 1 hit and ZERO runs, something unexpected from this ‘pen. The game came to an abrupt end as Alexei took a Bobby Cramer offering deep to left for a walk-off solo shot. Omar went 3/5 and Alexei went 2/4 with 4 RBIs and 2 homers
Game Three; A’s 7 Sox 4
The bullpen imploded once again and lost it as this time it was a full team effort from the ‘pen to blow this one. Danks went 8 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits, a solid effort from the southpaw. The ‘pen blew this one again with Chris Sale having a Will Ohman outing going 0.0 innings surrendering 3 runs on 3 hits. Thornton went 1 inning surrendering 3 runs on 3 hits earning blown save #4 and loss # 2. Juan Pierre went 3/4 and Carlos went 2/4 and that’s it I’m to depressed and annoyed to continue writing about this garbage.
