While the Chicago Bears have to make a big decision on wide receiver Alshon Jeffery this offseason, they could lose another important part of their offense.
Offensive coordinator Adam Gase was a hot name in the coaching market last season before he decided to join John Fox’s staff in Chicago. And this season he’s been the topic of conversation regarding potential openings in the NFL.
With the firing of Chip Kelly, the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly interested in Gase. Dave Zangaro of CSN Philly listed Gase as one of the top candidates for the Eagles job behind Pat Shurmur and Sean McDermott.
Also noted in the video on that article is that Jeff Lurie likes to hire first-time head coaches for his teams. That’s where Gase fits in, who has never owned a head coaching job in the NFL.
Backing up the report of Gase on the Eagles radar is Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, who tweeted out the following on Wednesday:
One of the names you’ll hear is that of Adam Gase, OC in Chicago who actually had Jay Cutler playing well, after working w/P Manning in Den.

It’s really no surprise that Gase’s name has been brought up and Bears fans should get used to it over the next couple of months. Gase has worked with quarterback Peyton Manning in Denver, and has really turned Jay Cutler around in Chicago. Despite the Bears not going to the playoffs, Cutler has performed well and cut down on his turnovers. That has been highly-noted around the NFL this season.
For Bears fans worried Gase could leave, it’s going to be an uncomfortable next couple of months.
