It sounds like Martellus Bennett’s career with the Chicago Bears is all but over.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Bears and Bennett’s agent, Kennard McGuire, are working to find an agreeable trade partner. The tension has risen between the two sides as Bennett wanted a contract extension last off-season and even skipped voluntary workouts with the team.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that they have attempted to trade Bennett for months now:

If the Bears can’t find a trade partner for Bennett, it’s likely he will be cut which would save the team $5.19M. Bennett has one year left on his current contract.
The 28-year-old Bennett 208 receptions for 2,114 yards and 14 touchdowns in three seasons with the Bears.
