Heading into training camp, the tight end position for the Chicago Bears is rather thin.
Outside of starter Martellus Bennett the Bears really don’t have any experience in their backups. But that could be changing according to the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs.
Biggs is reporting that the Bears have discussed the possibility of bringing in veteran tight end Jermaine Gresham. In his report Biggs uses an NFL source claiming the Bears are interested. The team currently has one roster spot open as they get ready for training camp next week.
The addition of Gresham could be another weapon for the Bears offense under new offensive coordinator Adam Gase. It would also give them another solid pass-catching TE with Bennett.
The 27-year-old Gresham has visited the Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders over the past few weeks. His most recent trip was with the Packers who have shown a lot of interest as well. He’s spent his off-season rehabbing from herniated disc surgery.
According to an NFL.com report, Gresham is hoping to make a decision before training camp.
