Just a month away from the NBA All-Star Weekend, the Chicago Bulls are sitting at 22-23 and eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
It’s been a frustrating season to say the least for the Bulls and now changes could be looming.
According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun Times, the Bulls have been shopping both Rajon Rondo and Nikola Mirotic.
Here’s what Cowley wrote:
‘‘Obviously, you knew that would be the case with Rondo,’’ the source said. ‘‘But [the Bulls] don’t like what they’re hearing back on [Mirotic], either. Then again, that’s a [front office] that tends to overvalue its assets.’’
Rondo’s time in Chicago this year has been a rollercoaster. He opened the year as the starting point guard but was benched a few weeks ago due to an incident with a coach.
His performance on the court hasn’t been anything special either as he’s averaging just 6.6 points and 6.7 assists per game.
Then there’s Mirotic.
The 25-year-old forward hasn’t lived up to expectations and has regressed since his first season a few years back. He’s averaging just 9.3 points per game this year.
Moving both players likely won’t push the needle much but it’s a start to the rebuilding process.
