On Friday the club agreed to a 2-year-deal with starting pitcher John Lackey according to reports. The deal is worth $32M according to insider Ken Rosenthal.

With the move, the Cubs will lose their first round pick which is 27th overall in the 2016 MLB Draft. It also gives them a third starter, something they needed last season. Lackey now joins a rotation with Jon Lester and Jake Arrieta who were the Cubs workhorses last season. As of now, Kyle Hendricks and Jason Hammel are the other two starters, but that could change as the Cubs are likely not done finalizing their roster.
Lackey was 16-13 with a 3.10 ERA in two years with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was previously a member of the Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox.
