The Chicago Cubs have already added one starting pitcher ahead of Tuesday’s MLB Trade Deadline when they acquired Cole Hamels from the Texas Rangers. But now, with the deadline just hours away, they may have their eyes on another starter within the division.
MLB Insider Jon Heyman is reporting that the Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers are interested in Cincinnati Reds starter Matt Harvey:
sources: brewers and cubs are among main teams in mix for matt Harvey. (not likely braves, I am told).

The Reds acquired the 29-year-old Harvey in a trade with the New York Mets back in May and since then the starter has pitched very well. Getting Harvey out of New York seemed to work for the former ace pitcher.
While the Brewers have been a team connected to Harvey for a week, the Cubs are now just entering the race. It could be a way for them to up the price on their rival from up North as the two teams are battling for the NL Central.
ESPN MLB writer Jerry Crasnick confirmed the report.
Also hearing the #Brewers and #Cubs as two teams talking to the #Reds about Harvey. One MLB exec says Milwaukee would be an excellent fit for Harvey, who has thrived in a lower-profile environment in Cincinnati. https://t.co/3z07EuLNzV

With just under two hours until the deadline, all eyes will be on these two teams in a move that will impact the NL Central.
