Chicago Cubs infielder Starlin Castro could be on the move.
UPDATE: Joel Sherman is reporting the two teams have agreed on a deal pending a physical.
Told that Castro to #Yankees has been agreed upon, but not finalized. Still medical review, etc. #Cubs

According to a report by FOX’s Ken Rosenthal, the Cubs and New York Yankees have re-opened up trade talks involving Castro. The two teams are currently talking as Major League Baseball is hosting its Winter Meetings in Nashville.
Sources: #Cubs talking to #Yankees about trade that would send Starlin Castro to NYY, sources tell me and @jonmorosi.

Theo says the Cubs are getting closer to a deal. They are trying to sync up a trade and FA. That sounds like Zobrist/Castro move, IMO

It was reported in November that the two teams were discussing a deal involving Castro and Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner. But nothing came of that. This deal wouldn’t involve Gardner however according to Joel Sherman:
Told Gardner is NOT part of conversations with #Cubs about Castro

The Cubs are likely looking for a starter back for Castro to booster their rotation that includes Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta and newly-signed Jon Lackey. Sherman also mentions the two teams are working on multiple scenarios and that the Cubs have expressed interest in Adam Warren.
Stay tuned for updates.
