For now, the Chicago Bears backup quarterback position belongs to Jimmy Clausen according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Clausen is ahead of Jordan Palmer on the depth chart and it will stay that way for the time being. Barring an injury it looks like Clausen will go into the season as the number two. Now the question remains, will the Bears keep rookie quarterback David Fales on the roster or practice squad?
Bears are keeping QB Jimmy Clausen over Jordan Palmer, who is being released, per sources. For now, Clausen has won Bears' backup job.
