The Milwaukee Brewers surprised almost everyone last season when they hung in the NL Central race until the final few weeks. They held a 5.5 game lead at the MLB All-Star Break, exceeding expectations for most of the season.
Despite missing the playoffs, the Brewers proved they are ready to contend sooner than later. The Brewers had fantastic pitching all season long and now could be looking to add another starter with Jimmy Nelson expected to miss a few months of the 2018 season.
That starter could very well be former Chicago Cubs starter Jake Arrieta.
According to Jon Morosi, the Brewers are showing interest in Arrieta as they look to add a top of the rotation starter.

Arrieta will be 32 years old when the 2018 season officially starts and he’s looking for a long term deal. He will likely command $20-25 million per year for at least four years and maybe on a five-year deal.
If the Brewers think they are ready to win now with a young roster, then they could heavily pursue Arrieta. But they might not be the only ones as other teams such as the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and even Baltimore Orioles are reportedly interested.
