Chicago Blackhawks fans woke up to some potential bad news on Thursday morning. According to the Buffalo News, Blackhawks star Patrick Kane is the subject of a police investigation in Hamburg, NY.
Officers and detectives have been forbidden from releasing any details in the investigation and will not speak public on it, yet.
From the article:
“We can neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of a criminal investigation until such a time as a person is charged with a crime,” said Hamburg Police Chief Gregory G. Wickett.
Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III used very similar language when asked about an investigation.
“We neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of an investigation until such time as someone has been charged with a crime,” Sedita said.
BN also filed two FOI requests which the town has 20 days to accept or reject. One was seeking complaints or reports on Kane and the other seeking complaints and reports for a certain time period.
If Kane does get in trouble, it wouldn’t be the first time. The star has had a series of events in his career where he’s been under some criticism. The Chicago Sun Times’ Mark Lazerus broke down the incidents:
Kane, of course, has had a history of off-ice trouble. He was arrested after an altercation with a cab driver in Buffalo in 2009, and admitted it was “time to grow up a little bit” after being photographed shirtless in a limousine in Vancouver in 2010. Then in the summer of 2012 came his infamous Cinco de Mayo partying in Madison, after which embarrassing photos of him were all over the Internet.
