The Chicago White Sox are likely going to move starter Jose Quintana in the second half of the 2017 MLB season. So as we enter the break, the rumors will begin to swirl.
Chicago acquired some key prospects in deals for Chris Sale and Adam Eaton last season in hopes of building a foundation for the franchise.
Now they hope to acquire more pieces in a deal for Quintana.
With teams like the Houston Astros, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers interested, Chicago will look to make a deal that improves their farm system.
As they continue to search for a suitor, a new report suggests the White Sox have raised the price on Quintana.
Here’s what Jon Heyman wrote on the situation:
Executives on interested teams suggest the ChiSox have sought two very top prospects in bigger packages for Quintana, who’s heated up in recent weeks. People connected to the White Sox insist the price tag is lower than it was for ace Chris Sale, but to this point, according to rivals, it is anything but low.
Heyman noted that it’s believed the White Sox have asked about Francis Martes, the Astros top pitching prospect as well as Kyle Tucker. Yankees prospect Clint Frazier was also mentioned.
Quintana has been good for the White Sox the past few seasons and would make any one of those team’s rotation a lot better. He’s under cost control through 2020 and won’t be just a one-year rental. That could help the White Sox case on landing one of those top prospects.
