In a season full of disappointment, there was one bright spot for Cub fans and that was Anthony Rizzo.
The 24 year-old first baseman was nominated for the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award. This is the second nomination for Rizzo in the last couple weeks.
He was also the Cubs representative for the Hank Aaron Award.
For those who don’t know what the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award is, it is an annual award that goes to the player whose on-field performance and contributions to his community inspire others to higher levels of achievement.
It is great to see Rizzo get noticed for his work with The Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation. He has been passionate about it since arriving in Chicago and further shows how valuable Rizzo is to the Cubs organization, both on and off the field.
Back in September, Rizzo won the Branch Rickey award, another annual award given for community service, which he received for his exceptional work with his foundation. He was the first Cub and the youngest player to ever receive that honor.
The Marvin Miller Man of the Year will be announced on November 3rd, as a part of the Player’s Choice Award ceremony. This award is voted on by the players and media members.
If you want to help Rizzo win the Hank Aaron Award you can vote here. Voting ends at 11:59pm EST on Sunday, October 5th. Winners will be announced during the World Series.
