Ryan Dempster decided to exercise his $14 million dollar option for the 2012 season and stay with the Chicago Cubs.
Dempster has been a consistent pitcher for the Cubs since joining the starting staff in 2008. His best season as a starter for the Cubs was in 2008 when he won 17 games and posted a solid 2.96 ERA.
Dempster will likely compete with Matt Garza for the top spot in the rotation.
