The man who won six championships by Pippen’s side will present him to the Basketball Hall of Fame, on Friday evening. Scottie Pippen will make his Hall-of-Fame acceptance speech following an introduction by his long-time former teammate, Michael Jordan. This comes one year after Jordan gave his own memorable, and (in the eyes of some) infamous, Hall-of-Fame acceptance speech. Jordan rubbed his accomplishments in the noses of his former doubters and competition. But the first person he thanked was Scottie Pippen.
“In all the videos, you never just saw me. You saw Scottie Pippen, every championship I won.”
Not surprisingly, Pippen’s reaction to Jordan being the man to introduce him to the highest individual pedestal of the game of basketball was one of jubilation.
“I can’t think of a better person to do it. Michael is someone I shared my career with, accomplishing most of what I have accomplished thus far. He was a great teammate, teacher and admirer. I’m excited to have an opportunity to be the first person that he has presented into the Hall of Fame. I figure if anyone deserves to be on the stage with me, it’s him.”
“It will be a thrill to be joining such an elite group and have my day of recognition. From there, I’m ready to move on. I’m looking forward to being part of the Bulls organization once again and can’t wait for the season to get started.”
There’s no question in the minds of true basketball fans that, not only does Scottie deserve this high honor, but, in fact, he was one of the best ever to lace them up and step on the NBA hardwood.
