Baseball’s regular season is finally about to start! The Chicago Cubs are still rebuilding their team for the future and the 2013 season may not look pretty. However, the Cubs will be better than the 61-101 record they put up a year ago.
The Cubs are counting on Jeff Samardzija to have another good season, Edwin Jackson to play to his contract, Kyuji Fujikawa to be a star in the bullpen, Matt Garza to be healthy and Nate Schierholtz/Scott Hairston to be a great platoon in RF. All of these are question marks, but if they were to happen, the Cubs could make noise during the season.
The Cubs will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates to open the 2013 season:

*The Cubs got bad news today as starting 2B Darwin Barney will miss opening day and more. Barney sustained an injury in today’s practice game. Barney received 5 stitches for a gash in his knew. The injury isn’t serious and a 15-day DL stint is not on the agenda right now. Brett Lillibridge will fill in for Barney until he’s ready to go.
Who’s ready for some baseball?!?! Go Cubs!
