With the second preseason game in the books, we are getting closer and closer to the start of the NFL season. The Chicago Bears entered last nights game against the Chargers with some question marks about their offense but still some time to fix them.
The Bears looked to get their offense on track and prepped for the regular season opener and during last nights win over the Chargers, it showed some signs of life. Running back Matt Forte got going early and often, showing signs that he could be back on track for a very good season. Forte found the end zone once and busted off a few nice runs in his limited drive.
The biggest question mark was on quarterback Jay Cutler. Although he threw an interception on his third drive, Cutler completed four passes on five attempts. All four of his completions including a touchdown were to wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
Cutler and Marshall were reunited last season and instantly found their connection. They seem to have found it again this season, which could be a very good thing for the Bears.
While Cutler and the offense looked both good and bad, there is still a big concern on the offensive line. With two sacks on it’s first three plays, the line showed signs of how bad it was last season. They will need to clean it up and get on track for Chicago to have any chance at a successful season.
The Bears defense was missing a few key players but rookie Jon Bostic continued to impress fans and give them hope on finding a replacement for Brian Urlacher.
Bostic laid a big hit on a Chargers receiver in the second half and showed excellent play recognition on the play.
The defense also forced a few turnovers as the first team defense held the Chargers first team scoreless in the limited play both units had.
