According to Jesse Sanchez, the Cubs will sign top international prospect Eloy Jimenez within the next few days. The 16-year-old outfielder decided between the Cubs and another team, but took less money with the Cubs. The move comes just hours after the Cubs made other roster moves earlier today.
Jimenez’s strengths are his speed, intelligence and his power to all gaps. He is regarded as the top prize in this years international class.
In addition to the signing of Jimenez, the Cubs also signed Gleyber Torres, the #3 overall international prospect and Jefferson Mejia, the #16 overall international prospect according to MLB.com.
