Game 1 – Sox 4 A’s 3
Humber showed why he forced a 6 man rotation going 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and walked 0, and was untouchable until the 7th inning. The bullpen was good going 3 innings without giving up a run including; Crain pitching 1.1 innings, Thornton going .2 innings and Sergio Santos going 1 perfect inning earning his 4th save of the year. Besides a 4 run 2nd the Sox bats were pretty quiet. Konerko and Vizquel each had 2 hits and Juan Pierre had 1 which was the sum total of the hits for the Sox.
Game 2 – A’s 6 Sox 2
Gavin had a bad start going 4.1 innings surrendering 5 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks striking out 4. Tony Pena ended the bullpens scoreless inning streak by giving up a run but Chris Sale was able to go one inning striking out 1. Paul Konerko hit his 10 homer of the year and driving in runs 29 and 30 of the year.
Game 3 – Sox 4 A’s 3
The Sox competed the dreaded West Coast trip with a win. Mark Buehrle pitched 6.1 innings surrendering 3 runs on 7 hits, 3 walks and a season high 6 strikeouts. Crain and Thornton combined for 1.2 scoreless innings and Sergio pitched a scoreless 9th for his 5 save of the year. The offense was lead by the Silver Slugging Shortstop Alexei Ramirez who had 3 hits including his 5th homer of the year and 2 RBIs. Konerko and Vizquel each had 2 hits in the victory
