The long awaited match-up, Edwin Jackson and Daniel Hudson tops the headline for game one. Hudson has gone 7-5 with a 3.82 ERA this year and has been solid of late going 1-0 with a 2.70 over his last 3 starts. Jackson, as has been discussed at length this year, has been a rollercoaster, looking like a different pitcher every other start.
Somehow it seems like Danks is matched up with other lefties in every start, this time Zach Duke will counter. Duke, in 4 games this year, is 1-1 with a 4.56 ERA and lasted only 4.2 innings in his last start surrendering 7 ER. Danks will look to bulid on recent success as he is 2-1 over his last 3 starts and has looked like old John Danks since getting over that stubborn 1st win hump. He has never faced the D-Bags, err D-Backs.
To round out the series Phil Humber will face off against Josh Collmenter. The 2007 D-Backs draft pick is 4-2 on the year earning a 1.86 ERA; he has never faced the Sox. Humber has similarly never faced the D-Backs but is 6-3 with a 2.95 ERA, over his last 3 is 3-0 with a 3.22 ERA.
