Rumor has it the Sox will name current AAA Charlotte Mgr. Joe McEwing as 3rd base coach. Currently he is managing the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League.
The Sox have asked for permission from Phillies to talk to the AA Mgr, Mark Parent, to fill the Bench Coach vacancy. The position became vacant when Joey Cora was let go by the Sox after he indicated he planned on following Ozzie Guillen to The Miami Marlins. Parent, 50, managed Reading to a 74-68 record in 2011
The hitting coach vacancy is rumored to be filled by current Sox Roving MiLB hitting coach Jeff Manto. Manto as the current MiLB roving hitting instructor he has good knowledge about the current minor leaguers.
