The Angels are coming into Chicago as Mgr Mike Scioscia won his 1000 career game as a Manager. They are coming off of a 2/1 series win against the Tribe. They are lead by Howie Kendrick on the offensive side of the ball and Dan Haren and Jeff Weaver on the Pitching side. Thankfully we won’t be facing either pitcher on this road trip. The Sox are 0-3 this year against the Angels after being swept by them at home.
Game 1
Edwin Jackson faces off against righty Ervin Santana. Edwin has lost his last 3 starts, going 17.2 innings and earning a 7.13 ERA. Edwin’s last start, which resulted in a loss, was solid as he went 8 innings surrendering one run on 6 hits; unfortunately, the Sox were No-Hit by Francisco Liriano. Santana is 1-3 with a 4.43 ERA this year and is 4-3 in his career vs. the Sox earning a 3.92 ERA. His last start was a rain shortened 4 innings in which he gave up 0 hits and walked one but was replaced after a rain delay. He throws a low-90’s fastball and a low-80’s slider.
Game 2
The middle game features John Danks against Joel Pineiro. Pineiro is 1-0 with a 0.71 ERA in 2 starts. He is 2-5 with a 4.86 ERA in his career vs. the Sox. He will feature a High 80s fastball, a low 80s slider and a mid 70s curve. Danks is 0-5 with a 3.83 ERA but has been good enough to flip that record. He is 3-3 with a 2.56 ERA in his career vs. the Halos.
Game 3
Jake Peavy will make his 2011 debut vs. the team he was injured against last year. In his career vs. the Angels he is 0-2 with a 5.17 ERA. The Angels counter with Tyler Chatwood who beat the Sox in Chicago already this year. Rookie Tyler Chatwood earned his first ML win vs. the Sox. The Sox were only able to manage 1 run against the Rookie. This year he is 2-1 with a 4.08 ERA, someone is hitting him.
