The White Sox made 4 roster moves prior to the opening game of the Tigers series. A.J. Pierzynski was activated from his injury rehabilitation assignment at AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list. In addition, the White Sox purchased the contracts of right-handed pitchers Shane Lindsay and Addison Reed and recalled infielder Eduardo Escobar from the Knights.
Pierzynski, 34, after being placed on the DL for the first time in his career the catcher went 2-10 with an RBI in 3 games with the Knights. He suffered fractured left wrist on August 11 vs. KC when he was hit by a Bruce Chen pitch in the third inning.
Lindsay, 26, went 3-3 with a 2.18 ERA, in 50 games with Birmingham and Charlotte this year. He is the first Australian-born player to appear with the Sox.
Reed, 22, went 2-1 with a 1.26 ERA and five saves in 43 appearances with Kannapolis, Winston-Salem, Birmingham and Charlotte. He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft and said that he was inspired by Chris Sales quick rise.
Escobar, 22, hit .266 with 23 doubles and four triples, in 137 games for the Knights this year. He was named the Best Defensive Infielder in the White Sox system entering the season by Baseball America.
