WOW! This is the only way to describe the way the Sox played against the Tigers today.
Here is what my co-writer Melissa had to say, “i never though garcia would be our “ace” … i dont know if our bats just light up for him.. if its luck of the draw.. or what… but it flabergasts me.. the kid has won 6 games before buehrle OR peavy… The tigers have to be hanging their heads in embarassment… who thought we would scare this many runs against them……. color ME shocked… brent lillibridge??? WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?! i never thought he would hit something like that in AAA let alone in his re-apparence in the bigs…. wow! id trade williams along with linebrink in a hot second… unfortunatly thats all i got because i didnt get to watch the game– just listened to it a bit and followed it on gameday…. but… unfortunatly im gonna end this with…. this is a brief fleeting moment of hope that will be surely covered by 2-3 losses after this game………… dont get your hopes up, Sox fans….” I think that pretty much somes it up!
The Tigers were actually leading this game after the Tigers blasted a solo shot to give Detroit a 1-0 lead.
Alexei was not satisfied with that so he decided that he would blast a solo shot of his own. But do you think the Sox wanted just 1 run this game? Try 14! And here we go……..
In the 4th Paul Konerko hit a double to deep left which scored 2. Mark Kotsay then singled which made it a 4-1 game. Ramon Castro wanted to add insult to injury so he decided to blast a 3 run home run to left field. Omar Vizquel then gave the Sox an 8-1 lead. Alright this story is about half way over, breathe, breathe, alright.
Raburn tried to get back in the game with an RBI single. Then Miguel Cabrera blasted a solo shot. Ok enough of the kitties.
Ramon Castro picked up his 4th rbi with an rbi single. Juan Pierre then singled to right to make it a 10-3 game. Omar Vizquel picked up 2 more RBI. Maybe the most surprising thing came off the bat of Brent Lillibridge. Pinch hitting for Alex Rios, Brent took the ball over the fence for a 3 run home run. That made the score 15-3 and that is how it would end.
Once again Freddy Garcia was brilliant. Garcia pitched 7 innings giving up 7 hits and 3 runs. His ERA is now under 5 as he continues to produce excellent outings.
The Sox will look to take a series win tomorrow afternoon when John Danks takes the bump.
One final thought Congratulations Chicago Blackhawks. Your 2010 Stanley Cup Champions!!
