The Rangers now lead the AL West with a 24-23 record. At home last years AL Champs are 15-9. Pitcher Alexi Ogando leads the staff with a 2.13 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP and newly acquired third baseman leads the offense with 10 homers and 37 RBIs. They will have Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz back in time to face the Sox.
Game 1 –
The first of three will have John Danks going for the Sox and Alexi Ogando for Texas. The Sox luckily didn’t have to face Ogando last go-around, but will have to deal with him this time. Ogando is 4-0 with a 2.13 ERA this year and has a 1.86 ERA over his last 3. He features a mid-90’s fastball and a high 70’s slider and mid-80’s change. Danks is still winless on the year, compiling a 4.32 ERA in route to the 0-6 record but has mostly had good starts, unfortunately those came when the Sox bats were quiet. Danks pitched well last time vs. the Rangers giving up 2 earned runs in 6.1 innings.
Game 2 –
The second game has Jake Peavy facing Lefty Derek Holland. Peavy pitched a shutout, last time out against the Cleveland Indians. So far this year Peavy has been awesome with 0 walks over his 15 innings, basically he is finally “As Advertised”. Holland, was drafted in 2006 by the Rangers and is entering his 3rd full season as a starter. He is 3-1 with a 4.37 ERA over 9 games and has a 3.71 ERA over his last 3 games. His fastball is in the lower-90’s he also has a mid-80’s change and a low-80’s slider.
Game 3 –
The Sox send Gavin Floyd who is 5-3 with a 3.88 ERA up against Lefty CJ Wilson in the finale. Wilson is 4-3 with a 3.42 ERA on the year and has gone 0-2 over his last 3 starts in his career against the Sox he has a 2-0 record with a 3.44 ERA. He has a low-90s fastball and a low 80’s slider and a low-80s change. Floyd is 1-2 with a 7.85 ERA against the Rangers and did not see them in the last series.
