Although the Twins are not doing well this year, they still present problems for the Sox. The Sox have gone 0-2 vs. their perennial competition, being no hit by Liriano. The Twins are solidly in last place, a place we at Pale and Hosed and most Sox fans love to see them.
The first game of the series features Gavin Floyd facing off against the evil Carl Pavano. Pavano hasn’t been as hot as he was last year going 3-5 compiling a 4.54 ERA in 13 starts. He has gone 6-3 against the Sox in his career and will be looking to win his 101st game. Gavin has been good this year going 6-5 with a 3.89 ERA over his 81 innings. He has been rough vs. the Twinkies going 4-8 with a 5.27 ERA in 13 games.
In game 2 Mark Buehrle will “lock horns” with Nick Blackburn. Blackburn has been at his career averages this year 5-4 with a 3.47 ERA. He faced the Sox earlier going 6.2 inning surrendering 1 ER on 4 hits earning the Win. Buehrle hasn’t faced the Twins this year but has 25 wins against 18 losses against them in his career with a 4.09 ERA. He has gone 2-1
Closing out the series, Edwin Jackson will look to even his season record at 1-1 vs. the Twins. Looking to stand in Edwin’s way, Brian Duensing. Duensing is 4-0 with a 2.50 ERA in 4 career games vs. the Sox, this year he is 3-6 with a 4.98 ERA. Even though Edwin has already lost to the Twins, it was a gem, going 8 innings surrendering 1 ER, he was on the losing end of Liriano’s No Hitter.
