Game 1 – David Price LHP (0-1, 5.14) @ Edwin Jackson RHP (1-0, 3.00)
The White Sox are hoping that they can have the Same effect on Price as they did last year as he went 0-3 with a 5.00 ERA vs. the Sox. Edwin Jackson started the season well last week in the opening series vs the Cleveland Indians. Jackso is 2-0 with a 1.59 against his old team. The Rays will be without star 3rd baseman Evan Longoria as he is on the DL with an oblique strain.
Game 2 – James Shields LHP (0-1, 2.45) @ John Danks LHP (0-1, 3.00)
The 29 year old Shields earned a loss in his first start of the season, one in which he pitched quite well going 7.1 innings and giving up 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 7, that kind of effort gets you a win 99 out of 100 times. In his career vs. the Sox Shields is 2-2 with a 5.05 ERA, striking out 33 in 46.1 innings. Danks also earned a loss in his last outing , though he pitched well going 6 innings surrendering 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 8.
Game 3 – Wade Davis RHP (0-1, 5.68) @ Phillip Humber RHP (0-0, 9.00)
This game marks the first time the Sox will need a 5th starter and have chosen to use Phillip Humber, the Mets failed prospect. So far Humber hasn’t impressed pitching 4 innings and surrendering 2 runs. Davis has gone 2-0 in his career vs. the South Siders with a 2.19 ERA.
Game 4 – Jeff Niemann RHP (0-1, 7.50) @ Gavin Floyd RHP (0-0, 5.14)
Gavin has gone 2-1 in his career vs. the Rays with a 3.43 ERA and has struck out 19 in 21 innings. Niemann has gone 2-2 with a 3.55 ERA vs. the Sox in 4 games.
