Danks this year is, as we all know, 0-8 with a 5.25 ERA and is 0-2 with a 7.36 ERA over his last 3, including the 4 inning meltdown which Danks surrendered 9 runs and appeared that the 0 wins was finally getting in his head. Looking to rebound after his worst start of the year Phil Humber will be on the bump for the Sox, on the other side will be King Felix. Felix Hernandez is 6-4 with a 3.04 ERA this year and is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA over his last 3 starts. He won his last start against the Sox earlier this year pitching a 5 hit complete game, surrendering 2 ER. Humber’s last start, despite being his worst this year, wasn’t that bad. He was solid into the 8th inning in which he hit a bump but still earned the win. He is 4-3 with a 3.06 ERA over all. He faced the Mariners earlier this year and went 7 innings givng up only 3 hits and 2ER.
The finale features Gavin Floyd for the Sox and the Mariners will counter with Lefty Jason Vargas. Vargas is 4-3 with a 3.96 ERA through 12 games and has pitched 11.2 innings against the Sox giving up 14 hits and 7 ER. Gavin has gone 6-5 with a 3.84 ERA this year and has gone 2-1 with a 2.61 ERA over his last 3 and faced the Mariners earlier this year throwing an 8 inning gem allowing 0 runs on 3 hits.
